Sandy and the whimsical Peepers capture the hearts of children by expanding their interests in the world around them and broadening their vocabulary.  Children, parents, and educators will fall in love with these creative and colorful characters and they will quickly become your children's favorite books. She also brings a healthy dose of her no-nonsense, but fun-loving "I've been a mother for almost 40 years and there's nothing you can get away with" style of teaching.

Originally from Racine, Wisconsin, Sandy spent her childhood along the east coast settling in the Washington, DC area following her graduation from Wake Forest University in 1974.  While raising her three children, Sandy volunteered at library storytime readings and taught pre-school art appreciation before returning to Marymount University in 2000 to earn a BA degree in art education.  She has taught everything from AP Art History in high school to classroom art in elementary schools in Northern Virginia.  From her 23 years of teaching experience, she knows how art and reading impact our everyday lives.

Children, art, reading, teaching...choosing just one of Sandy's passions is not easy.  But put them all together and you'll see why the Peepers that she and her sister, Dana, created have become such engaging and popular creatures with children of all ages.  Sandy lives with Big Jim, her husband of 40 years in Vienna, Virginia.
